MY CANCER STORY

Hello, my name is Chiko

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Chiko

Thank you. ありがとう。

I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2019. At first, I was faced with the harsh reality that the only available treatment for me was palliative chemotherapy.

However, after undergoing chemotherapy, surgery, and post-operative chemotherapy, as of March 2023 (four years since my cancer diagnosis), I am now cancer-free.

Why I started this blog

Why am I writing this blog?

This is because I want to connect with cancer patients/their families from all over the world.

Actually I started this blog in early summer 2021, originally called “チコがん日記” (Chiko’s Cancer Diary), to document my personal journey with cancer. I initially have written in Japanese, but now just started to translated into English.

I am Japanese and received my cancer treatment in Tokyo.During this treatment, I became curious about the experiences of cancer patients around the world such as: their treatments, their lifestyles, and daily thoughts and feelings.

So anyway, I thought I should share my own journey as a pancreatic cancer patient in Japan (Tokyo) at first.

This includes :

  • the treatments I received
  • the lifestyle I led
  • the thoughts I had along the way

I am happy to share my all experience with you, and people from all around the globe.

About my cancer journey

During my cancer journey, I faced so many challenges.

When I was first diagnosed in February 2019, my doctor told me that surgery was not an option and that I would have to undergo chemotherapy (palliative treatment), which made me feel devastated.

Thankfully, the first round of chemotherapy was effective, and I was able to have surgery. After the surgery, I received adjuvant chemotherapy for half a year.

And here I am. As of March 2023 (four years since my cancer diagnosis), I no longer have cancer!

Through this blog, let me share how I overcame this cancer.

What I did to overcome cancer

To overcome cancer, I made some significant changes in my life.

After being diagnosed, I made a 180-degree change in my life priorities, putting more focus on maintaining mental peace.

I also reevaluated my lifestyle habits, such as diet, exercise, and sleep, to support my cancer recovery.

Please check this blog out for more details.

Conclusion

I hope that the insights I’ve gained through my experience can serve as a beacon of hope for those who are suffering from cancer, which is why I am writing this blog.

I would be delighted if you are interested in the thoughts and experiences of a cancer patient in Japan, and I would be happy to introduce Japanese cancer patients’ lifestyle habits, such as diet, exercise, and sleep.

I would like to connect with cancer patients from all over the world, and from the bottom of my heart, I long for the day when no one has to suffer from cancer, and when all types of cancer become treatable diseases.
